Guidelines for our guests
floating linksIn addition to maintaining the cleanliness of your bedroom and bathroom, you are responsible for one small chore each day. Chores are rotated on a daily basis.

The Ronald McDonald House is a place for families to relax and rest in a peaceful, quiet atmosphere. Since 29 families are sharing living space, this House may not be an appropriate living arrangement for everyone. Residents are expected to be considerate in every way of the other families staying here, and of the volunteers and staff who make a House like this possible.

ALCOHOL is not permitted on our premises, including the parking lot.

SMOKING is not permitted in our facility.

FOOD is permitted ONLY in the kitchen and dining room. Please clean under your dining table after eating, rinse your dishes and put them in the dishwasher. Please use paper plates when taking food to the hospital.

ILLEGAL DRUGS, FIREARMS, AND OTHER WEAPONS are forbidden.

NO OVERNIGHT UNREGISTERED GUESTS. No one may be in the House overnight other than those registered with the office.

QUIET HOURS are enforced from 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

THE KITCHEN AND PLAYROOM close at 11:00 p.m. This insures that residents who have bedrooms under or close to these rooms are not disturbed.

CHILDREN must be supervised by parents at all times.

SHOES and shirts must be worn at all times in the public areas.

ROOMS are to be occupied continuously. If a family wishes to leave for 24 hours, please check with the manager.

CHORES must be done daily by residents and reported to the office upon completion.

FIRE REGULATIONS allow a maximum of four people to sleep overnight in our bedrooms, with the exception of two larger rooms which may accomodate five.

RESIDENTS must respect the privacy and personal property of the other residents of the House and the privacy, property and operations of the House itself. The management of the House reserves the right to enter and inspect all rooms at any time at its discretion.

Procedures
OFFICE HOURS are 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily. All business should be conducted during this time. The Manager is available for EMERGENCIES between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. A doorbell is located at the top of the Manager's apartment door.

CHECKOUTS are conducted anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Checkouts are not conducted at any other time. Please refer to the check out procedures posted on the wall in the room. A volunteer will make a final inspection of the room. At this time you may settle any unpaid balances, turn in your room key, parking permit and beepers. Please leave your laundry basket with clean linens in the room.

CLEANING of the family rooms and common areas is the responsibility of guests, since maid service is not provided. Each family is asked to perform one small chore each day and then let the volunteer at the desk know it has been completed. Cleaning supplies are located in an unlocked storage room on each floor. Families share bathrooms and are equally responsible for keeping it clean at all times.

DISHES, for purposes of sanitation, must all be washed in one of the three dishwashers. PLEASE do not leave dishes in the sinks. Dishes are to be loaded immediately into the dishwashers. All families are asked to start dishwashers when they are full and to unload when the cycle is finished.

SHEETS AND TOWELS owned by the House are to be washed using hot water, soap and bleach.

TELEPHONE CALLS
Incoming Calls: You may leave our phone number, 734-994-4442, with friends and family so they can contact you. Phone calls for families are accepted in the office during business hours, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. You will be paged via an intercom system and may take your call on any of the House phones. You may respond directly to the person who is paging you over the intercoms — that is, we can talk to you on these intercoms and you can talk to us. If you are not available, the call will be transferred to your room and the caller can leave you a voicemail. After 9:00 p.m. a family can be reached by inputting the patient's last name into the voicemail system. An emergency line is available (for emergencies only) which will ring into the manager's apartment, if needed.

Outgoing Local and Long-Distance Calls: Local and long-distance calls (using a phone card or credit card) can be placed on your room phone.
